Why Is It So Hard to Rest?
26/5/2026
I used to think people struggled to rest because they simply did not have enough time.
I am not so sure anymore.
I see people arrive on holiday and carry on exactly as before.
They check their phones.
They think about what they left behind.
They are already planning what comes next.
Even when there is nothing they need to do, their minds keep running.
And I do not blame them.
This is how most of us live now.
We rush through our days and, somewhere along the way, forget how to stop.
To sit without needing to be somewhere.
To look at the sea without taking a photo.
To enjoy a coffee without doing something else at the same time.
Maybe rest is not really about time.
Maybe it is about rhythm.
And rhythm does not change the moment you arrive somewhere new.
It takes a little time.
A quiet walk.
A slow morning.
One good night of sleep.
And then another.
Somewhere in between, the body begins to relax.
And when that happens, the mind often follows.
