When There Is Nothing You Need to Do

26/5/2026

Perhaps this is one of the hardest things we have forgotten.

Doing nothing.

Not because you are bored.

Not because there are no options.

But because there is simply no need to do anything.

And yet, for many people, this feels almost impossible.

We have become used to filling every empty space.

With tasks.

With information.

With notifications.

With plans for what comes next.

As if silence always needs to be covered by something else.

And yet, some of the best moments of the day are exactly that.

A few minutes without a schedule.

Without a destination.

Without any obligation to be somewhere else.

Just a coffee.

A little shade.

The sea in the distance.

And the feeling that, for the first time in a long while, nothing is waiting for you.

It does not sound extraordinary.

But perhaps that is where much of the rest we are looking for can be found.
